Hi guys. I downloaded the zip file (Hirens.BootCD.15.2.) I unzipped the file using winRAR. I burned the ISo image file onto a CD & flash drive. Then I switched off my PC (windows 7 Professional 64 bit), put my flash drive on, switched on the PC. After boot set up, I selected flash drive option & then the PC started reading the flash & selected Offline NT/2000/XP/Vista/7 Password Changer option. Then there comes a prompt screen with this 'boot: _'. Next I pressed enter. Normaly a screen telling me I need to select the partition where Windows is located should appear but in my case this didn't happen; a screen with numbers & information appears instead, it just stuck there, I pressed enter several times but doesn't accept the command. The same thing happens when I used the CD. Could you please explain why this is happened? Do you guys know any other similar bootable rescue disc solutions?

I have a problem getting Hirem's Boot CD 15.2 to boot from a USB drive. NO problem for it to boot from CD.Also I am able to boot Hiriems Boot CD version 10 from a USB drive. And all other live bootable I so filesJust the New version of Hirem's Boot CD 15.2

I am a long term user of Hiren's Boot CD, but the CD does not support booting on UEFI/EFI/SecureBoot hardware, is there some kind of update/patch to apply to the cd image to be able to boot without BIOS? Can I make this myself? (By putting some files in the iso image?)

There are many suggestion to use tools which make an ISO bootable with UEFI on a flash disk, however it's not that easy as you can only do that with UEFI-enabled ISO's. By UEFI enabled ISO's I mean that the ISO files contain a BOOT\EFI directory with a EFI bootloader. Hiren does not have this so the tools will not work. This is why I am asking the question - is there any way to make ourselves / copy another bootloader into HIREN and make it work?

Have you tried via USB with rufus?Try Rufus USB. Rufus is a utility that helps format and create bootable USB flash drives, such as USB keys/pendrives, memory sticks, etc. Handles UEFI as well as legacy booting

It boots on my new system and works on all the computers I get in for repairs.If you are looking for a read only copy (CD/DVD), there are tools that can make a EUFI bootable CD and then copy the files over... but that probably won't work for you...

because, what I usually find (and why I use the USB) is that many systems come with the boot-to-optical drive disabled. Especially if this is an OEM computer. some Toshiba's dont' even give the option to change that in the bios. The OEM Windows has to be booted, and the drive order enabled and changed from there! That presents a mess of catch-22.

The systems are designed to be reverse compatible with old boot disks, which makes "converting the Cd to EUFI" irrelevant. Its that "legacy optical boot" being automatically disabled is what is probably causing your problems.

One fallback/test option is to remove all the other drives from the system, and see if the bios/boot falls back to a optical drive boot when no other devices are found. That will tell you if its the CD or BIOS.

It's very similar to HBCD - something like HBCD upgrade. I have made bootable HDD with small partition for DLCD and other partition with ghost images and other software tools... I was using 2014 without UEFI but this new 2015 is described to support UEFI.

So, as i suggested, you should boot in with the Hiren Boot cd somewhere you can do it successfully. I suppose it has a builtin grub in it, so try grub2-install --target=x86_64-efi --> or i don't know what instruction set your laptop has, but read grub's man page for help (first make sure, you have a boot directory, if not, then make one:))

YUMI (Your Universal Multiboot Installer) is by the same developer as Universal USB Installer above (pendrivelinux.com) and is quite similar, but offers the added ability of making your USB stick multi boot complete with its own boot menu.

When the process completes a window will pop up asking if you want to add another distribution to the USB stick thus creating a multi boot device. If you choose to do this, it will take you back to the main window above where you can select another ISO image to be written to the stick.

Thanks for this! I had downloaded hirens on a mac and was not sure if unetbootin would work. Fortunately, I still have a ten year old Windows laptop which I used to edit the .cfg files. I wish I had thought about it before as I would have just downloaded hirens to that pc. One more caveat was that I had to change the sata setting in the bios to ide. That way hirens recognized my drive and I was finally able to get back on my win8 device. Many thanks to raymond.cc!

Trying to create a Hiren's BootCD on a USB. Not needing anything else such as a dual boot of Ubuntu and Haren or Window's and Haren. All the programs that I can find to complete this either end up directing me on how to create a Ubuntu boot on a usb, or how to do it on Windows. But since it is my Windows computer that I'm trying to fix I need an alternative. Please Help?

None of the below methods will work.Although you will get a bootable USB, it doesn't chainload anything out of the Grub Menu. This is especially true for the 'revised' edition of Hiren's Boot CD (the one with the mini-version of Windows XP)

get hiren's Iso into your HDD. insert your USB pendrive or whatever, download rufus and proceed with burning the hiren.ISO file into the USB.once you succeeded, you need to restart your pc and check that your BIOS is configured in such a way that your boot order has your harddrive as the last thing to boot from.Also make sure, that as you reboot your pc again, and you have your USB burned and plugged, you dont have anything else that your pc might boot from.Hope it helps (btw, i just did this 30 minutes ago...) Saving a normal Linux user from even needing any external medium.(Though loopbacks can boot isos from other partitions/media too, if you are willing to not use grml-rescueboot and do the GRUB2 config manually.)
